Strange resistance

Tried to do my normal Friday sprint training on Rolla for the first time but found the resistance all over the place. Riding on the flat I had to be in my highest gear and when sprinting I couldn’t get enough power max 350w, I normally produce 700/800w but on reaching a small climb around 7% and sprinted up the climb the resistance seems to click in and I produced in excess of 1000w. I am not capable of producing that sort of power. It feels too easy until there’s a climb then it becomes increased resistance. Is this a known issue or is there something wrong in my setup.
